Purpose and Operation

The TELTONIKA IMB5 is designed for vehicle theft prevention.

  • Identification: The driver is identified automatically when an active, paired ID card is within the communication area.
  • Immobilization: If no paired ID card is detected, the system regards the use as unauthorized and immobilizes the engine.
  • Authorization Button: Depending on setup, the user may also need to press a hidden button 1 or 2 times within 5 seconds of turning the ignition ON.

ID Card Management

The ID card is an electronic key. It is recommended to keep it separate from the car keys to ensure security in case of key theft.

Changing Operating Modes

You can change the ID card mode by pressing and holding the button for specific durations:

  • Active Mode (Green LED): Card is ON and communicates automatically.
  • Passive Mode (Orange LED): Card communicates only when the button is pressed. To start the car, you must press the button.
  • OFF Mode (Red LED): Card is completely disabled to save battery during long storage.

Battery Replacement

When the battery is low, the system warns the user with 4 double buzzer signals every time the ignition is turned ON.

  1. Open the ID card case.
  2. Replace with a new CR2032 battery (ensure correct polarity).
  3. Close the case firmly.
  4. Protect the card from rain and snow.

Acoustic Signals (Buzzer)

The buzzer provides essential feedback about the system status:

  • 1 short beep: ID card identified / System disarmed.
  • 2 short beeps: System armed (after ignition is turned OFF).
  • 4 double beeps: Low battery warning in the ID card.
  • Short beeps (increasing frequency): "Anti-carjack" countdown is active (from 25s to 11s left).
  • Continuous beep: Final 10 seconds before engine immobilization.

Anti-Carjack Function

If the driver is forced out of the vehicle and the ID card signal is lost while the ignition is ON:

  1. The system starts a countdown (60s or 120s depending on installer settings).
  2. The buzzer warns the driver with increasing frequency.
  3. If no card is detected by the end of the countdown, the engine is safely immobilized.
  4. To cancel, the ID card must be brought back into range or the emergency PIN must be used.

Emergency Override (PIN Code)

If the ID card is lost or damaged, the system can be disarmed using the secret 4-digit PIN code.

How to enter the PIN (Example 2113):

  1. Turn the ignition ON. The LED starts flashing.
  2. Count the flashes for the first digit (e.g., 2 flashes).
  3. Turn the ignition OFF, then back ON.
  4. Count the flashes for the second digit (e.g., 1 flash).
  5. Repeat for all 4 digits.
  6. If correct, the immobilization signal turns OFF.

Service Mode

Used when leaving the vehicle for maintenance (valet/car wash).

  • Activation: Enter the PIN code. After the last digit, wait for quadruple (4) LED flashes.
  • In this mode, all security functions are disabled so you do not need to leave the ID card with the car.

Compliance and Safety

  • Declaration: TELTONIKA declares that product "IMB5" complies with EU Directives and UNECE Regulation No. 97.
  • Recommendation: ALWAYS change the factory PIN code after installation. DO NOT keep the PIN or the ID card inside the vehicle.
