TELTONIKA IMB5 Immobilizer Purpose
The purpose of the immobilizer "TELTONIKA IMB5" is the prevention of the car theft.
- The driver is identified when the person with the active paired ID card comes inside the communication area.
- If the person has no ID card, the immobilizer regards the vehicle is under unauthorized use and transfers the signal for engine immobilization.
- The system supports up to 5 ID cards.
The Set and Components
The immobilizer includes:
- System Unit: An electronic module hidden inside the vehicle.
- ID Card: An electronic key that should be kept in the driver's pocket or handbag.
- Buzzer: For acoustic signals and status warnings.
- LED Indicator: For visual status information.
The ID Card
The ID card is not intended for use as a remote key fob and shall be kept separately from the car keys.
ID Card Modes
You can change the ID card mode by pressing and holding the button:
- Active Mode (Green LED): The card constantly communicates with the System Unit. Recommended for daily use.
- Passive Mode (Orange LED): The card only communicates when the button is pressed. Recommended for long-term storage or battery saving.
- OFF Mode (Red LED): The card is completely turned off.
Battery Replacement
- Battery type: 3V CR2032.
- Life span: It is recommended to replace the battery every 12 months.
- Low Battery Warning: When the ignition is turned ON, the system warns by a series of 4 double buzzer signals if the ID card battery is low.
System Operation
Identification
1. When you approach the car with an active ID card, the system identifies you automatically. 2. If the authorization button is programmed (FN61), you must press it 1 or 2 times within 5 seconds before or after turning ON the ignition.
Anti-Carjack Protection
If the ID card signal is lost while the ignition is ON (e.g., if the driver is forced out of the car):
- The system starts a countdown (60s or 120s depending on settings).
- The buzzer will warn with increasing frequency.
- Finally, the engine will be immobilized.
Emergency Overriding (PIN Code)
If the ID card is lost or the battery is dead, you can disarm the system using your secret PIN code.
PIN Entering Steps (Example 2113)
- Turn Ignition ON: The LED starts flashing.
- Count Flashes: Wait for the LED to flash the number of times corresponding to the first digit.
- Confirm Digit: Turn the ignition OFF and then ON again.
- Repeat: Do this for all 4 digits.
- If entered correctly, the immobilization will be turned OFF.
Service Mode
Service mode is used when leaving the car for maintenance.
- In this mode, the immobilizer functions are temporarily disabled.
- To activate: Enter the PIN code and wait for the quadruple flashes of the LED.
Acoustic Signals (Buzzer)

Safety Warning
THE USER MUST CHANGE THE PIN CODE AFTER THE INSTALLATION AND DO NOT SAVE IT INSIDE THE CAR! Keep your ID card away from rain, snow, and moisture.
